Netflix App opening to a red screen
I have got a Boxee Box and I was very happy to have it and was excited to watch the Netflix bit after starting the Netflix I am just getting a red screen I don’t know what had went wrong with it. I have found that when I am trying to exit the app after waiting for sometimes I am able to see a flash of the Netflix app. Otherwise it just stays red for the whole time. Is there anyone who has experienced the same problem before and have an idea about the same and can help me out with it. Any suggestion regarding the same will be appreciated.

You can try the following steps:
* Make sure that you have the latest firmware (1.1.1.19092 and above)
* Uninstall the Netflix and try to re-install it again.
* Try to reset the box’s settings
* Try different HDMI cables and ports
Just try to perform all of the above and see if it helps.

Re: Netflix App opening to a red screen
Even I have faced the same problem before but then I was able to solve it by changing the DNS server address from the assigned ISP's to a public one and in this case I had used Google’s DNS server. If you want you can try the same as well because I think that this will help you out as it had helped me out previously for the same problem. Just try to make the changes and see if it solves your problem or not. If it does then good and well and if it does not then I will try to help you out with some different solution. Best of luck.

Re: Netflix App opening to a red screen
I had faced the same problem and what all I tried is to update the firmware manually .I was having a BB hook to HDMI switch b/c as I had found it to be the fastest method to switch HDMI inputs but later when I tried to switch on the BB by holding the power button for 10 seconds I was always getting the red screen .Later when I disconnected the HDMI switch and then hooked the BB to my HDTV directly the red screen problem was appeared to be solved. I really don’t know if it is a perfect solution or not but I was able to solve my problem by the above method. If you want you can try to follow the same in order to check if it works for you or not. Hope that helps.

Re: Netflix App opening to a red screen
I think that this problem is due to some kind of compatibility issues because I previously had the same problem when I was trying to connect a BB to my old plasma using a HDMI to DVI converter I was getting the same red screen but later when I tried to play the same BB on my new plasma then the Netflix was just working fine without any problem and the red screen also disappeared. I don’t know if the same is in our case but I will suggest you to check it out using some other plasma and see if you find any difference or not.

I will suggest you to try out the “namebench” as I have found that it catches the fastest DNS servers which is available for your server and it also runs fairly through the benchmark using the history of our browser and the standardized datasets to help us with a individualized recommendation. It is also free and does not modify our system in any terms so you don’t have to worry about it much .It runs on the Mac OS X, Windows, and UNIX and it also comes with a graphical user interface and a command-line interface. It has been written using Tkinter, PyObjC, jinja2 etc.

Re: Netflix App opening to a red screen
“Namebench” works well but what I have heard that it does not work if there is any kind of TV compatibility problem. It helps if there is any kind of DNS problem. I think that you will have to test the top result because I have experienced that the fastest DNS servers is not always the best .I have also came across a no of people in many forums who have reported that they have been facing some kind of email problem as well when they have tried using the OpenDNS. If your OpenDNS is quite slow as compared to the Google’s DNS server then I think that you can try it out.

Re: Netflix App opening to a red screen
Even I have been facing problem with the Netflix .I have experienced that it is lagging while streaming and there are constant rebuffering and even slow loading as well and some time it just does not launch. I have noticed that it I am facing this problem with some movie streaming apps but then when I am loading the engadget show or even the TED I am not facing any such above problem. I have already tried clearing the netflix data as well as reloading the app but I am experiencing the same problem. Any further help will be appreciated.

I have also tried clearing the netflix data and even loading the app but what I think now is that the vudu app might be causing this problem. I have found that the vudu app has found to be failing to fetch the bundle. I have also found that when these two apps are active then the boxee box plays the disconnect and reconnect game with the wifi router. I have not found the same problem with other wifi devices .I have tried streaming a TV episode from Netflix using the phone then it works fine without any problem. If you want you can try the same method and see if it helps.

Re: Netflix App opening to a red screen
I have the similar problem and it is that the Netflix opens to a red screen and then it just stays there and when I click on the Back button then i am able to return to the Apps menu and see the Netflix menu when I am exiting an I have faced the same problem with the VUDU as well. I am not having any problem with the other applications and they are working fine as well. I have already tried the factory reset and have also tried unplugging the HDMI connector .Any further help will be appreciated.
